The picture doesn't do this soup justice. This is SO good! I am not a big soup eater and I loved it and so did the crowd I made it for. I served it with sour cream, sliced avacado, and the sliced tortillas on the side. YUM!

I love this soup, and so does my fiance! He asks for it all the time. I generally omit the corriander and cilantro, simply because I don't usually have them on hand. I made it with the fresh tortillas the first time around, but have left them out ever since. I've found that they tend to get a bit gummy, especially upon reheating the soup. The only thing I add is some frozen corn toward the end of cooking time. This soup freezes and reheats very well, too!

This is a great recipe. Made it a little larger & included some mushrooms I needed to use up. Whole family loved it. Go easy on the jalapenos 2 large was about the top end of the scale for my kids.

This is one of those recipes to take when someone needs comfort food: an accident, a death, a baby, an anniversary, etc... any event that causes someone to need a smile on their face. Don't change one thing about this recipe. Ina hit a home run......

Love this soup. Only changes I make is that I don't use whole tomatoes in puree, I use the cut up tomatoes that have jalapenos in them. Also use the juice from jarred pickled jalapenos, however much I feel like putting in. I don't use the tortillas, I use regular store bought corn tortilla chips and put them in the bowl then pour the soup over it and cover it with shredded cheddar and mix it all in and it is fabulous, great flavor and the canned cut up tomatoes with jalapenos does not make this too hot, it gives it an extra kick. Love Ina!

I've made this soup numerous times and it's always delicious. I usually use leftover roasted chicken to save time. And since I often can't find tomatoes in puree I just use tomato puree and it works well. I've been asked to share this recipe many times!

Wow, this soup was wonderful..It was simple..I made a soup similar like this, but it was meatball soup..Chicken was great..Next time I will use turkey meatballs instead.. I doubled on the carrots..White bean should be great also. I added rice at the end and didnt puree the tomatoes..I wanted extra chunks in the soup.. I would definitely make this again even for potluck at work, it's worth it..

This is my favourite soup recipe, EVER! I add bell pepper instead of tortillas and garnish with salsa.
