This cake is absolutely delicious! I doubled the recipe and made a 2 layer 8" round cake with whipped cream filling. I would make this again!

Incredible!!! Made these today for a friend's surprise b-day brunch tomorrow. The six mini bundt cakes are lovely and I had the pan so it was perfect. They would be great in the mini bundt pan or the full size one. I found that until the orange syrup cooled off a bit it stayed on the cake better. While hot it just ran off the cakes onto the lined rack pan. I also punctured the cakes with a took pick to let the syrup absorb into the cakes. I do this step with lemon bread and it's good.
The combination of orange and chocolate is divine. I followed it exactly and it made wonderful cakes. I also like chocolate with other fruit so this is a refreshing change. The ganache looked a little thicker than hers, I also wonder how a touch of orange liquor in the ganache would taste. May try it next time. Do try these.

Addicting! I used the same recipe from her "Parties" book and made it in a Bundt pan. Using the zest and juice of the orange made the flavor so bright and fresh which contrasted nicely with the bittersweet chocolate- 2 of my favorite flavors. Be careful not to overcook it if you are using a Bundt pan, the outside gets quite crispy while the inside is still a bit underdone. Even so, still incredibly delicious!

I made these mini cakes one hour ago and they are WONDERFUL!!!! they are like little gems you don't even want to eat!!! even my hubby LOVED them and he's not a big fan of sweets. I did not have buttermilk on hand so I mixed milk with vinegar and let it sit for one hour. I did omit the syrup and ganache and still they were out of this world, in my personal opinion the chocolate chips are enough to satisfy your chocolate requirement, I didn't need more. These mini cakes are sooo moist and tender, you have to try them!!!! Thank you very much Ina!!!!

This recipe is delicious! I didn't have the fancy mold, so I just used a cupcake pan. The batter filled 12 cupcakes perfectly. Mine rose a little more than it did in the show, but the cake itself was so moist and perfect even without the orange simple syrup. Definitely use the simple syrup though it added a nice sweetness to the cake. In the show Ina made a little more ganache, but I found the recipe amount was perfect and didn't have leftovers like a some of the other recipes. I wasn't sure if I would like the orange and chocolate combination, but the cakes looked too good for me not to try them. I'm really glad I did! Great recipe!

This is a great recipe and I've had success with it every time. One suggestion though. Many of the posters here said they couldn't taste the orange. That, no doubt, is due to the oranges you squeezed for juice. Sometimes they just don't have a lot of flavor. Taste your batter before you cook it. If you can't taste the orange, put in a 1/2 teaspoon of orange extract. I also do not use the syrup. I put a tsp of extract in the ganache. Perfection every time.
