What a yummy recipe! I love this orange and chocolate combo! I used greased and floured muffin tins and everything turned out fine. I added Grand Marnier to the OJ and sugar mixture, and also added a bit of Grand Marnier to the chocolate, and I really liked the added depth of flavor. These cakes stand on their own WITHOUT the syrup and the chocolate, though. I tried one after the cakes cooled and the orange flavor of the little cakes was incredible, thanks to the orange zest and the OJ. Wow! Thanks, Ina!

This was an excellent recipe. It is actually the first recipe I ever downloaded of Ina's, but it has taken me this long to try it. I was looking for a pan and decided to try it with a cupcake pan. It worked perfectly. The recipe was easy to follow and very tasty. My husband loved it. Orange and chocolate are one of my favorite combinations.

I made this as a cake for a holiday party this evening with the recipe from the Parties cookbook which is this same recipe, just adjusted for a larger pan. While there are several steps, it came out so beautifully, it was worth it. The cake came out of the pan easily and was light and tender. I baked it at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. I made a couple of changes, though. With the syrup, I added about 2 tsp Grand Marnier to the sugar and orange juice, then boiled it until it was reduced by half. Then I brushed it on the cake. With the ganache, I reduced the coffee crystals to 1/4 tsp and added about another 1 tbsp Grand Marnier. It intensified the orange flavor but did not taste like alcohol. Orange and chocolate together are wonderful and this was a great dessert that was different than the usual holiday fare. Thank you, Ina!

I made this and it was a hit!! I love Ina's recipes and loved this one. The orange flavor is not too overpowering but when you bite into the cake you get a subtle orange flavor with the chocolate ganache.. it is over the top!

delicious cake in my favorite flavors. I don't have too much baking experience, but this one is the best I've made yet. Since I live in Europe, people here seem to be not too fond of overly sweet cakes, so I regularly reduce the sugar by 1/3. In this case, I replaced rest of sugar with powdered milk. Cote D'Or Belgian chocolate served as my choco chunks in the cake and for the ganache and wowl Even my husband who doesn't like sweets actually said 'it's good.' coming from him, that's a super compliment. love your show and recipes Ina!

These are excellent! I'm not a huge fan of orange-flavored desserts, but I make these all of the time. I skip the ganache and add a few more chunks so they are easier to store. The ganache is a huge mess and without it, they can even be a special breakfast treat. I didn't skip the syrup though!

Outstanding cake. Don't skip the glace...makes a difference. I use a mix of milk chocolate and semii-sweet....yum.
