I made this over the weekend and it was very good. I was only able to make 4 layers, not the 5 layers in the recipe. I used homemade Nestle Toll House chocolate chips cookies but could definitely see using many combinations of cookies and flavorings in the creams to mix it up a bit. I think next time I will use less sugar in the cream mixture as it was a bit sweet for us.

Made this for a family birthday party and it was almost gone before I got to the table to get a piece. So Good. Just one question - I could only get 4 layers and I even used an 8" spring form pan. The picture that is posted only has 4 layers. Did everybody else get 5 layers?

This was a hit with my family! I went ahead and put in the extra time to make the Tate's Bake Shop cookie and it really paid off. Once I had the cookies ready, the cake was a snap to make. I, like some others here swapped out the Kahlua for strong coffee - equal amount. I may try this again with a ready made dark chocolate wafer cookie as I really like dark chocolate.

OMG this cake was the BOMB!!!! Not only was it delicious, it was sooo easy to make. I also baked my own thin cookies. Me and my husband cleaned it out in 2 days. I also gave a slice to his co-workers and they wanted the recipe. I will certainly make this again just so I can see the reaction on the people's face. LOVED IT!!!

Ina was right on TV: this cake makes men (and women weep. My daughter had a bake/dessert contest at her office, made this cake and ... she won! Thanks, Ina, for yet another successful recipe.

As always Ina doesn't disappoint : Fortunately I was lucky enough to find Tate's cookies in a small privately owned grocery store which made it easy. The texture of the cake was creamy and light. I will definitely make this cake again but with just one small change. Instead of ¼ cup of Kahlua I'll knock it down to an eighth cup. Other than that, shear perfection :

One of the easiest recipes I've ever made-devastingly delicious!!!!! Used chocolate wafers because I couldn't find crispy chocolate chips. On my list of great desserts.

My daughter & I watched this episode right before her birthday & she decided she wanted to try it for her birthday cake. I didn't have time to make or look for thin chocolate chip cookies, so I used chocolate wafer cookies. Two boxes will do. We don't care for liquers in our desserts, so I substituted plain brewed coffee. It was still extremely delicious & everyone loved it. It's a keeper, & my daughter thanks you for a great birthday cake!!

Really delicious and easy recipe but a few points:
    - used a 9-inch pan (suggested by another post instead of 8-inch and it worked out great!
    - only used 8 oz. of mascarpone and the mocha cream was still to-die-for; no doubt you can use that cream for other cakes = definite keeper!
    - baked off Nestle Tollhouse cookies (about 40 for the entire cake which worked out fine because they come out really flat.

However, after a few bites I found the cake a little too sweet. I'm guessing it's from all the sugar in the cookies (maybe the Tate's cookies aren't as sweet...? and it was overwhelming towards the end. Unless you have a big sweet tooth, I would suggest using a cookie recipe with less sugar or maybe using 2 layers of graham crackers and 3 layers of cookies to balance it all out.

I definitely plan to make this again in the future but with less sugar. Overall a wonderful recipe that takes little effort!

Yummy doesn't say enough! I googled a recipe for Tate's chocolate chip cookies(which are little bits of buttery goodness! I followed the recipe after that! Ina has done it again. I have never made anything of hers that I didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE! Thanks Ina!
