Just served this to my sister & friend during our weekly card game-it was a hit!! Instead of chocolate chip cookies I used a box of Nabisco's Famous Chocolate Wafers-made it even easier & delicious.

What a delicious cake and so easy to make and fun to assemble. I made this yesterday and finally had to sample it this afternoon and let me tell you it taste like a masterpiece. I used and have always used The Joy of Cooking recipe for Chocolate chip cookies. They come out thin which is perfect for this recipe.

This was an absolutely delicious recipe. I even bought the Tates cookies which were crispy and buttery good. I also wanted to add that this recipe freezes well and tastes great as a frozen dessert.

This was one of the most delicious desserts I have ever made!! And it could not be easier. Thanks Ina!! A definite keeper. I used Chips Ahoy cookies and they were perfect. Also, I used instant coffee powder instead of espresso. Both were much cheaper than the alternatives, and I am sure did not affect the flavor much, if at all.

Simply Amazing!! I couldn't find mascarpone at the store so i substituted cream cheese. I used 1/4 cup of brewed coffee and 1/4 cup of kahlua and didn't add any grounds.

very yummy! I made a few editions... since I'm allergic to alcohol, I opted for 1/4 Cup of strong espresso instead of kahlua and then used store bought chips ahoy cookies (the crunchy ones in the blue bag. definitely a keeper! since it was very similar to tiramisu, I plan to portion out the rest of the cake and freeze it so my husband and I can enjoy a taste at a later date. I think the tiny chocolate chips in the cookies lend itself better than big chocolate chunks, which can be a bit much. Thanks Ina!! Yumm-O!!

First the question - can I freeze this?? It seems like I would be able to, but when I was looking at the mascarpone cheese container, it said 'do not freeze'. I bought enough for 2 cakes and only made 1 so I have open containers that I don't want to go to waste. My 4 year old LOVED the cake and would like it for his birthday in 2 weeks. This is why I want to make it now and freeze it.

As far as the cake goes, it's simply amazing. I took it to a Valentine's Day chocolate dessert party at my husband's office and it was a HUGE hit. I made Tollhouse cc cookies which were perfect because they always come out flat. I have searched high and low for espresso powder in my area and can't find it. So I chose the strongest, darkest beans in the grocery store, set the grinder to 'espresso' and used that. We just finished up the leftovers last night (about 2.5 days since I made it and it was even BETTER! One of those better with age recipes! Thanks Ina!
