This is now my go-to potato salad recipe! I finally ditched the one I've been using for 30 yrs. You just can't go wrong with this one. The only thing I do differently is I skip the onions because I hate onions. Other than that, I follow it to the letter. I don't think I would try substituting dried dill on this one. The fresh dill makes it so special. And the mustard is not at all overwhelming like in some potato salads.

A perfect salad for large get togethers, simple to make and even better the day after. Chilling for more than 2-4 hours allows the potato's to soak in the flavor. Adding jalepenos to give it an extra kick. I now have to teach my wife how to cook, since we are making it almost every other week.

This was simple & tasted delicious. I made it for the first time for guests coming for a Fourth of July b-b-q & my girls, ages 8 & 9 were able to help put it together. Everyone LOVED it and can't wait to come back for more!

Great tasting potato salad without a lot of fuss. The fresh dill really makes the recipe. I had only russet potatoes and it still turned out great. Big hit on 4th of July. Thanks Ina!

This is the best potato salad recipe ever! It can be served the day it is made, but is much better the next day. I love make-ahead dishes so that I can relax and enjoy my guests.
I normally change something in each recipe....but not this one. It will be the star attraction at our 4th of July party. Thanks, Ina!

Has anyone made this the day before? Thanks for any help. I need enough for 12 adults, so I'am sure I will double the recipe.

I never follow a recipe but I did with this one. I do not like mayo but wanted to make this for a BBQ. The only thing I did that was not on the recipe was to make the dressing one day early with the onions and everything. Then I brought out to come to temp and finished it quickly today. I love Ina's recipes as they are so simple. I didn't taste the mayo either!!

First made this recipe for a graduation party and it was a huge success. I followed the receipe but because we like egg in potato salad, I grated 2 eggs, one mixed in, and the other over the top. It added color and flavor. I am making it again this weekend for another graduation party and will be doubling the recipe. I used sour cream instead of buttermilk. Gma6

This recipe is the best! (For those reviews that spoke of the salt content, please make sure you are following her recipe. She uses Kosher salt, NOT table salt, there is a big difference. It would be too salty if you used table salt. Ina's potato cooking method was perfection! The flavors were wonderful, and everyone loved it. I did have to substitute the buttermilk for some sour cream, because my store didn't have buttermilk, but it was still great. Ina's recipes never fail to be a big crowd pleaser every time!
