This is a horrible recipe. I won't ever make it again. It doesn't even look good. Like a noodle mess, no real flavor, just nasty. Sorry Ina.

I loved this dish. I am glad that I did not read the reviews first or I might not have made this recipe. I watched Ina make this on youtube. I especially loved the sweet and salty taste of this dish with a little hint of pepper coming through. Having said that, I did add a bit more brown sugar. This dish is savory and sweet...a great combo and a bit different than the traditional dish I usually make.

Excellent texture, however intensely lacking the sweetness it should possess. It needs more brown sugar, much more sugar and an additional 15 minutes uncovered for perfection. Also I skipped the raisins I think that it would be better with diced apricots... but that is personal preference. It is also very yummy served cold.

Oh my I'm sorry- It was difficult to even decide to make this recipe with the mix reviews. But against my better judgement I went ahead and made it. My kids didn't enjoy it at all. I didn't throw it away, that's a waste. But it wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be. There are hits & misses. I still love Ina though.

I ommitted the salt, knew that had to be a mistake.. just didn't sound right! : I also added just a touch of orange zest! Delicioso!!! Everyone loved it!

I am a huge fan of Ina's and make a lot of her recipes, but this had it's instructions typed up improperly. Got all the ingredients assembled and tasted it before I added the noodles - SALTY! I have been making kugels for over 45 years and this is the first one that I had to throw out the ingredients. The 1-1/2 TBS of salt should be in the water and no pepper added. This is a sweet kugel, salt and pepper are out. I will try it again as this is the first time I've had a bad recipe from her.

    Wonderful dish!!!
My daughter was so excited when I took her half of the Noodle Kugel. She reminded me that I don't make it as often as when she lived at home. It was even a hit with her husband who usually doesn't care for sugar in his food.
I'm an old hand at cooking and I have done things such as adding 1 1/2 T. of salt without thinking that it couldn't possibly be right. At this point I read the recipe several times and think about the ingredients called for since I find there are quiet frequently typographical errors when the recipes are printed for the viewing audience of Food Network. Obviously, their people make mistakes in setting the recipes up for viewing.
Perhaps Food Network needs better proof readers.
