Ok, so I researched quite a few apple crips recipes, and I chose this one because it was the best. And I am an avid watcher of Ina, and I love her desserts. I did, however, omit both the zests of the orange and lemon. I only used a sprinkle of lemon juice because I don't like citrus with apple and don't think it was necessary. I have to tell you that it was PERFECT without it. The flavors are so delicious..perfect amount of sweetness, and my apples cooked beautfilly in an hour. I did use a mixture of macintosh and golden delicious, and it turned out great. This recipe is a keeper for me. The only thing it is missing is the vanilla ice cream. I will have to pick up some tomorrow because it is snowing now and too cold to go out!

I had several apples that I needed to do something with. My son was coming for dinner and my husband & I didn't have much time. I said we'll do apple crisp. He said Ina has a recipe. I googled Ina apple crisp and came up with this recipe. However he said we should do it in ramekins. It was delicious. Same baking time, but he drizzed some Gossling's black rum over each one after they came out of the oven. DELICIOUS!!!

I made this apple crisp for a New Year's Eve party and it was a huge hit! The apples were cooked perfectly, the topping was fantastic, super tasty and crumbly. Everyone had a huge serving and it was all devoured by the end of the night. Even people who do not normally eat dessert saved room for it and loved it. I can not recommend it more. I have made many apple crisps and this was the best. ~ Suzie the Foodie

This was very easy to make! I never measured the Citrus, just added the amount i thought was called for. I cut back a little on the nutmeg out of personal preference. Everyone including myself loved it. The topping is so great with the oatmeal. YUM! I used both typed of apples called for in the recipe... I highly recomend making this recipe.

My family absolutely LOVED this recipe! It was beyond fabulous! I have been on the search for a wonderful apple crisp, but most had soggy or gewy toppings. I made no changes to this recipe and it had a very crisp topping, like it should. I will definetly be making this again! Thank you Ina! :

I reduced the citrus by half after reading the reviews and our family still thought that the orange especially overshadowed the true apple flavor. We all ate and enjoyed it but I don't think I will make it again for all the work of coring, peeling and slicing... Also 1 hour baking time was too much. The apples (macintosh resembled the texture of apple sauce...
