Loved this! I found the citrus to be complementary, not overpowering at all. I made the recipe as written with the exception of reducing the sugar in the topping to 1/2 c each of white and brown sugar. This was a big hit!

I made this last night for company. We all thought that the apples were too tart. I used macoun apples as the recipe suggested. I would make this again but I would use a sweeter variety of apple. I do have to say that the crisp topping is great! Will try again!

This is a great recipe for a classic dessert. Based on the comments of other reviewers, we chose to omit the lemon zest, lemon juice and orange juice. We did include the orange zest. Together with the cinnamon and nutmeg, the orange zest gave the the flavor of the apples a subtle, interesting depth that was not overpowering and just made it taste great. We didn't make any other changes to the recipe. This is a solid, easy apple crisp that is sure to please your family and friends. Probably goes without saying, but it's awesome with a nice big scoop (or 3 or vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

This was awesome! My entire family said they've never had an apple crisp that was better than this one. HUGE HUGE HIT! The zest put it over the top!

Made this for a small dinner party. I was worried that the apples got too mushy but everyone loved it. My boyfriend says it was the best crisp topping ever.

Easy, delicious! I used Rome apples and Tangerine instead of orange (because that is what I had. It makes a huge recipe. Says it serves 10, but really a lot more than that. I made a half recipe and it would have easily served 8.
