I made it exactly like the recipe. It is horrible. Too dense, colour came out much darker than in the recipe book. We threw it out. The orange glaze was very nice though.

Delicious! This gingerbread was moist and flavorful. This is now my go to recipe for gingerbread. The optional orange flavor is a welcome addition and not overpowering. I left the raisins out. This would be wonderful even without the orange glaze.

This was delicious! I followed her recipe exactly. Brought it to my Parent's for Mother's Day. We polished it off in a couple of nights! My Mom couldn't stop saying how much she loved it!!

WONDERFUL! I omit the raisins and clove. I also poke the top of the cake all over with a toothpick as soon as it comes out of the oven. Then I mix together 1/2 cup confectioners sugar, 1/2 cup orange juice and 1 Tablespoon lemon juice, and pour it evenly over the top while the cake is hot. Cool to room temp and serve with sweetened whipped cream. FANTASTIC!

No doubt about it...the best gingerbread I`ve ever eaten! I don`t care for raisins in gingerbread, so I omit them. The addition of the crystallized ginger puts it over the top, making it extra special! I love to serve this with a good lemon sauce.

Wow was this good. I made this recipe and loved it. I read the reviews before I made it and am not sure what the big fuss of no eggs in the recipe were about. This is not "ginger cake". You don't need eggs. Just make the recipe without eggs you will end up with moist dense flavorful gingerbread.

This is absolutely the best gingerbread I have ever made, and being from the south, we know about gingerbread. Just follow the recipe exactly as written and get delicious and wonderful old fashioned gingerbread.
Way to go Ina - love everything you do.
