I can't keep up with the requests for these. When I retired to my condo at beach February there are not a lot of people in our complex, so I thought it would be a good idea to make these and take to the Fire and Police Departments, just let them know I am here and keep an eye out in here. Have you seen grown men cry? I make for my best friend when she comes and indiviually wrap them so she can freeze and have when she wants. These are worth the time and money of good ingredients to make these. THE BEST OF THE BEST.

I have never made home made brownies before, but after making this recipe, I will never make boxed brownies again! These brownies just explode with flavors and are fabulous. I halved the recipe and it made plenty!

These are, without a doubt, the best brownies I have ever made. I have made them to bring to functions, and have always been asked for the recipe. I follow the recipe to the letter, and it is not difficult to make, and always comes out perfect. I have made it both ways, with and without nuts, and both are spectacular!

Wow, these brownies were great! It makes a huge batch! They are very rich, but not sweet--I didn't have enought chocolate chips so substituted with butterschothc chips and used espresso grind coffee instead of instant! This recipe is a keeper!

I'll say up front...I made a pretty major addition to this recipe. But I think even without it these basic brownies would be fantastic. Definitely don't need the HUGE serving size Ina recommends. My sheet pan of brownies made about 48 servings. So my big change. As if they aren't decadent enough...I made a quick carmel sauce and about halfway through the baking process I drizzled it all over the top of the brownies then continued baking. It was SO freaking good!!!! Family LOVED them!

Best brownies EVER! If you make them right they are NOT greasy. Don't skip the coffee, even if you just add a little, it enhances the chocolate flavor. I used to halve the recipe but they are so popular now I make the whole recipe and freeze half -- I always have something ready for company or to bring with...

These were awesome! I didnt have any issues with this recipe what so ever!!
How ever, im giving this a 4 instead of 5 because i changed the chocolate, reduced the coffee and halved the recipe.
Because many people stated that this tasted too dark, i used milk chocolate in place of semi sweet and semi sweet in place of unsweetened. The result was a very nice, not too sweet and not dark brownie.
Word of advice, if you dont like coffee flavor, omit the coffee or reduce it by a third.
If you halve the recipe, it fits perfectly in a 9x13 baked for 30-35 minutes.
and by the way, to rap means to bang it.
If you cook these until a toothpick comes out clean they will be overdone.. since they are fudgy brownies, the tooth pick shouldnt come out dry, it will be moist but not wet.
    These were perfect!!!
And as long as you flour the baking dish, they arent at all greasy!

I tried this recipe out twice. The first time they were much too crumbly for my taste. I thought this recipe had way too much butter and not enough flour. Usually I would give up, but the reviews were so positive, I had to try it twice. This is not my favorite brownie recipe due to the amount of butter and chocolate.
