I've never made brownies from scratch before, but I made these w/ 3/4 lb butter instead of all of it and only cooked it for 25 min instead of 30, and they're gooey and absolutely wonderful!

I made this recipe and it was amazing and easy!!! It only took me 15 minutes make this recipe. I see a lot of people having problems with their brownies coming out too greasy or they come apart. I think the trick is that I only used 1/2 a pound of the butter instead of the whole pound. I think is too much butter. Also the coffee was excellent because it brought out the chocolate flavor and is not that strong of a taste. I only baked them for 30 minutes and they were so moist and fluffy. I did have a problem finding the baking pan. I used 2 baking pans. one 9x13 and one 8x8. I will surely make this again. They are so delicious and rich. THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the advice on thie recipe! Every time I've made them they turned out greasy and crumbly. I'm going to make a batch this weekend and I'll let you know how they turn out!

My 16-year-old daughter whipped these up one night. She doesn't spend much time in the kitchen baking, but she really outdid herself! I had her halve the recipe because I didn't want so many sweets around the house....but now I wish I'd have had her make the whole batch!! She used an 8x8" square pan for the 1/2 recipe. The brownies were moist and gooey. Anyone having a problem with figuring out the pan requirements, just use TWO 8x8" square pans. Happy baking!!

It's a half sheet pan. It's in the beginning of the recipe. After reading these reviews, I'm going to make them this weekend. Let me know how yours turn out.

I let my chocolate COMPLETELY cool before I added the other ingredients and they were still soft and messy on the bottom. HAD to eat them with a napkin. And I cooked them for almost 15 min. longer. They do taste great, but I won't make again due to so much work. Dirtied 3 bowls to make. And then messy on bottom. Sorry Ina, normally LOVE your recipes.

I love these brownies I've made them several times I will never make any other brownie recipe. I use a sheet pan as big as I can get to make these and I still have a little batter left over. Which is great because they never last for more than 2 days.

Could anyone advise on the size of the baking pan used? Ina does not mention and mine was not big enough for the amount of dough.
    Thanks, Marcelle Male, Atlanta, Georgia
