I've never had the chance to make brownies from scratch and always made them from the box stuff, those were good, but it was never satisfying. This however, being my first stab at making it from scratch, is beyond expectations. It was fairly easy to whip up! The instant coffee REALLY adds a depth to the chocolate and brings it to another level of deliciousness! Thanks Ina!

I rarely indulge in so much butter, but as one who has sampled as much chocolate as possible over the years, I have to say that these brownies are exceptional and worth the splurge. I made them for Valentines Day event this past weekend, and used a heart-shaped cookie cutter to provide each friend with their own special brownie. After one taste, everyone was raving! The recipe makes a huge amount so one can freeze them and save for a later indulgence. Ina, these are beyond delicious. Thank you!

These are the most fantastic brownies I have ever tasted. They are worth the little extra effort. Everyone that tasted them said they were the best they'd ever had.

This is the first time I have been able to make a decent brownie from scratch and they turned out fantastically. I followed the recipe exactly and these were proclaimed the best brownies ever by all who tasted them. I admit to being a snob about buying "box" mixes, so I do not bake too often as my cakes have not been successful, but after making this recipe I have renewed hope and plan to try some more of Ina's baked recipes. Yes, there's lots of ingredients, but the end results are well worth the effort.

Recipes like this one is the main reason I would rather cook than bake. I have had box brownies that are better than these. Not to mention how much the recipe makes, by the time I finished buying the high end chocolate and butter, etc. I should have bought 2 nice filet mignons and a box of Betty Crocker!

Though "outrageous" is a perfectly good name, and very fitting--in my family, we decided to call them CRACK browines. If done properly (as I read some must not have these will be thee best brownies you will ever bake. Rich, decadent, and addicting. Throw away any other recipe you once had. This is the only one that matters. INA--you go girl. Fantastic!

I want to try this recipe but I need to substitute something for the 3 cups of walnut pieces. I have just left out nuts in other recipes and it was a failure. There has to be something to add instead of the nuts. All here prefer not to have nuts added.
Thank you.

I tried this recipe about 1 year ago and these are the only brownies
I make. Everyone who tastes them talks about how great these are and how my brownies are the best. I always let them know who's brownies they really are and where they can get the recipe. These will be all you will ever need, chocoalte, coffee - any chocoalte lovers delight.

Sprinkling Caramel or Canilla salt on top of these brownies is incredible.
