Whoa now these are good brownies! They take a whole lot of chocolate to make but the end product is this delicious chocolatey masterpiece!

Rich. Decadent. No other brownie will ever compare. Expensive. Use 1 tablespoon of coffee.

These were wonderful! However, 3 tablespoons of coffee powder made the coffee taste a little too strong. Ina always says how you shouldn't taste too much of the coffee as it's role is to bring out the flavor of the chocolate, but I thought this much was overpowering.
I'm making them again soon and plan on using milk chocolate chips and no coffee at all. Yum!

I ask my wife to make these for my birthday every year, because there really is nothing more delicious. A little heavy on the calories and the wallet(around $30 for all the ingrediants, but it's worth it every time!

I modified these from the start because I like a really thick brownie. I cook them in a 13x9 casserole dish instead of the 18x12 sheet pan that the recipe calls for. It works just fine, but I do drop the oven temperature to 300 to make sure the middle gets a chance to cook before the edges burn. They do still come out a little crispy, so you may want to go even lower if you want to make them thicker. I also cut the coffee in half -- I think it's good and may increase it at some point. When you taste the batter, it tastes strongly of coffee, but the final brownie has just a hint of it that brings out the chocolate flavor.
Last, a previous reviewer suggested that the baking powder measurement is incorrect and should be 1 teaspoon, not 1 tablespoon. You can find a clip of Ina preparing this recipe on Food Network's site and she clearly uses 1 tablespoon, as the recipe lists.

These are the only brownies I ever make! I get so many requests for them. I don't care for nuts in my brownies so I omit them. This time I tried something different that just put these over the edge! I found a recipe for chocolate port ganache and spread that over the top of the brownies. HOLY SMOKES!!! They were an even bigger hit at work and I'm requested to make them like this from now on. If you are a chocolate fiend give this a try!
