This is the quintessential fried chicken recipe! I will go to this recipe anytime I make fried chicken. It was easy to make and had the most perfect golden breading. I baked it for 40 minutes and it came out perfectly moist and well-done. It really is fail-safe, so no reason for it to be less than perfect if you follow the instructions.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been trying to make fried chicken for over 40 years and it
never works. My crust comes out crunchy, but it is always too
dark. I think you people have figured out my problem. I like extra
spicy, so I have always added extra spices to the flour. Oviously
that is my problem. The cayene, etc. was causing my crust too burn.
So I have kicked up the spices in the brine and hopefully it will turn
out good........ if not, dominoes delivers LOL

EXCELLENT...CANNOT ADD MORE TO OTHER'S COMMENTS. BUT JUST A NOTE TO DORA....YES, USING SELF-RISING FLOUR IS DEFINITELY THE REASON IT TASTED OFF. I MADE THIS MISTAKE ONCE WHEN I WAS MAKING BANANA BREAD AND COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THAT 'OFF' TASTE WAS. LATER I DISCOVERED I REACHED FOR THE SELF-RISING FLOUR INSTEAD OF THE AP FLOUR. CRIPES! NOW I LABEL THE FLOURS...LESSON LEARNED.

To Lisa, yes, I have fried chicken many, many times without bones, because my son does not eat chicken on the bone at all. I buy chicken tenders, batter or bread them the in the same way, and they turn out perfect. Also try taking whole boneless breasts and cut into cubes for home made chicken nuggets.

This is a very easy way of preparing fried chicken. Love not having to monitor the frying chicken more than the recommended 6 minutes frying time because it finishes in the oven! I also added about 1/2 TBS of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture. The result was tender, crispy, and tasty chicken. My family loved it!
