Ina never fails to deliver! This is the crunchiest oven fried chicken recipe I've tried. The buttermilk is key in achieving that thick crust. The chicken develops a fabulous texture, first from lightly frying to then oven baking. It combines the best of both methods. I prepared half of the chicken with just the s&p, as directed, the other half with seasonings that I normally use, which escalated the flavor to a whole new level. I also found that I had to brown my chicken a few minutes longer than stated, but my pieces were larger than the ones used in her recipe. Overall, super fantastic!

Loved this fried chicken recipe! I add some spices to the buttermilk and the flour for more flavor. Nice and crispy. I also make this with boneless skinless breasts cut into smaller pieces or strips.

Made this for a group of friends on Academy Awards night. Using the theme from "The Help," I served it with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beens, biscuits, pie and ice cream (whew!. It got rave reviews, but my kitchen looked like a huge train wreck when I was finally done. I think I used every bowl, baking sheet, frying pan, and dutch oven in the place. At least I burned some of those calories scrubbing things up afterwards. This really a great recipe, I followed it very closely, just added some cayenne pepper to the flour.
