For the person whose coating fell off in the oven...your oil was not hot enough when you fried the chicken.
This was a fabulous, simple recipe. I only eat fried chicken about once every couple of years, but this was worth the extra three miles on the treadmill!

I have never ever been able to make fried chicken of any sorts and this was one of the best recipes i have found in a long time. I am always amazed at what Ina Garten makes and sure didn't disappoint me in any way. It took a little longer but i bought cut up chicken and did just fine with that. saves a little time and energy.

I cooked a chicken cut into pieces tonight by the recipe. The chicken was moist and flavorful. It was everything and more than I expected.

Yummy! This recipe was very much worth the time and effort. Very crisp on the outside and super moist on the inside. I highly recommend it.

I've always fumbled at making fried chicken at home, but this was so easy and it really tasted "Southern Style" like Grandma's - and really juicy. I suggest adding a bit more pepper for some kick. Not sure if finishing it off in the oven really cuts that much fat, but who cares!
To the reviewer that said the flour came off in the pan - it sounds like the oil wasn't hot enough.

I will prefecae this review by saying that I am not experienced in the kitchen. My husband actually does most of it. We watched this episode one Sat. and decided to givie it a try. I managed to get through cutting the chicken and flashbacks as a kid watching my Grandmother do it. Somehow something went wrong and I'm still not sure what happened, but the flour didn't stick to the chicken as it was frying and I had a big mess by the end of it. I may try again at some point , but for me, I'll stick to Paula Deen and Rachel Ray. Go girls.
