I'm rating this recipe based on its method because I didn't follow the recipe, just the cooking method, and it was great! came out perfectly. I used all drumsticks, and it was really good. I used, salt, seasoning salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder to season and it had a great taste. I usually hate drumsticks because I don't like dark meat first of all and because whenever I have had them, they tasted burnt because it takes so long to fry them through, so doing it this way gave them a beautiful coating and it didn't taste burnt at all. I didn't have a wire rack, so I was afraid it would burn on the bottom, but I turned them halfway through, and it was perfect. Thanks Ina! I can't wait to make it with breasts. I bet it'll taste like chick-fil-a because that's the same texture my drumsticks came out to be like.

Great! My new "go to" oven fried chicken recipe. I did kick it up a bit by adding a 1/2 tsp each of cayenne pepper and onion powder to flower mixture. Also used peanut oil to brown the chicken.

I made this today...it was fine...nothing great. I've been making fried chicken all my life (daughter of a chicken farmer. I love my own recipe; but also love to eat other recipes. I followed it completely correct. It seemed a lot more work and "buttermilk money" without spectacular rewards. Ina, usually really special, but not here.

Ina's buttermilk fried chicken is the best we have ever eaten. I added about 2 teaspoons of paprika to the flour mix and sometimes I add a little garlic powder but it is great either way. Fried and baked exactly as directed, the chicken is beautifully browned and very moist. A definite keeper in my recipe box.

Very tasty! I have never been able to make a fried chicken my boyfriend would eat... until now! I used boneless breasts, and cut the baking time. Thankyou Ina!

It's juicy and so JUMMY! My husband who usually doesn't like fried food loved this! I put salt and pepper when I marinated it with buttermilk and it was just perfect.

This was a winner with my family, so I will be making it again! The chicken was very moist and delicious. I did not find the cooking process difficult at all - great recipe.

This chicken was so moist and delicious. I'm going to cook at like this all the time. When I baked though, the skin came off when I wanted it to remain intake. Any suggestions? I did add more seasoning and when I marinated all night I used fresh rosemary, lemon and other seasoning to make more spicy. Thanks for this recipe.
