Really good. I would use a little less mayo next time. Also, use the leftover dip as a sauce for turkey burgers- I can't even describe how great it is!

I love this recipe and have made it for years. I have found that chopping the onions, rather than slicing them into 1/8 inch half-rounds, makes for less mess when eating! Also, using a cast-iron pan for caramelizing the onions adds a little magic. Taking the time to completely cool the onions is essential, as is room temperature cream cheese. I also use a little less than a tsp of salt, and a more cayenne...

This is a very tasty and flavorful recipe. You can't go wrong with cream cheese and mayo: Ina's recipes never disappoint...I always find myself giving her recipes 4 or 5 stars.

This dip is amazing. The onion flavor with the kick of cayenne is great with the creaminess. Everyone at our New Year's eve party loved it.

We made this for our Christmas Eve party. It was delicious! Everyone thought it was great. I thought I might not like it with the mayonaise because I don't like mayo. I will never buy premade again. It was very easy. We sliced the onions extremely thin with a mandoline and then cut them even smaller. That is the only recommendation I have to others making this dish.

My husband and I did not like this. He did not like it because he could taste the mayo which he hates. I did not care for the tanginess of the cream cheese. Just thought we were being picky so I took the rest to work and no one there cared for it either. May try again, but double the sour cream and omit the cream cheese, and add a beef bullion cube to the onions while they are cooking.
