Marinating the beef in wine and browning the vegetables before adding to the stew are just two of the things that make this a fabulous stew. I always add red pepper flakes to my beef stew for some extra heat and this makes it perfect !

Great taste, flavor, easy prep. It's nice to have a good variation for a stew, and this one is at the top of my list. Bravo Ina and Parker!

It takes no time to prepare and the taste in excellent! I used one of my favorite Chianti Riserva and it tasted so complex with many layers of flavor. All of my friends were wowed. Ina has a quality of recipes that in combination balance a cut above.

I made this stew and I understood why Jeffrey went for the ice cream first. This stew was so so. I am not sure if I would make it again or not. Now don't take me wrong, we ate it and it did have a different flavor to it, but I have had better.

Since we were on vacation, we were not going to be home in enough time to cook in the oven. I marinate the beef overnight and prepared everything in the morning. Then I put it in the crockpot and left. We came back about 6 hours later. The flavor of the stew was wonderful, the colors were rich. For some reason the meat was not as tender as I had hoped. It was a little chewy so I think it could have used more time in the crockpot. Other than that, I loved it.

This stew turned out wonderful. What a hearty meal for a nice cool evening. The gravy in this stew is heavenly, I didn't change a thing!

This is the best beef stew I have every made. It's the second time in a week that I am making it. I made it for my husband and our friends and everyone loved it so much. If fact, we are having them back for the repeat of the meal tonight. Thanks Ina for a great recipe!!! This one goes into my top 5.

Tons of flavor, rich, stick to your ribs heartiness. Makes enough for a small army.

This was by far the best stew I had ever eaten. I modified the recipe a little bit because I made it in a crock pot, but for flavour, aroma and appearance, you could not find a better stew
