Absolutely wonderful. It is a thick, savory stew that will warm you up on a cold snowy night, and well worth the trouble. None of the steps are difficult, but a bit time consuming when you cook all the vegetables before placing them in the dutch oven. It is quite thick. This stew freezes well. When I reheat it the next day or after freezing I add a bit more beef stock for the gravy. It needs no more served with it than a chunk of hard bread and your favorite red wine. Enjoy!

This was not a good recipe. The stew tasted sour...too much wine or sun-dried tomatoes? I would not make this again.

I loved the recipe, because of time, I didn't marinate over nite, and I cut everything in half. But
it was still fantastic. Next time I will allow more time and invite more guests Thank you so much
for saving my sanity and proving that I can still cook, even at almost 80.

It was very easy to make, and had a wonderful flavor that my friends were thrilled with. I will be making this recipe a staple in my home. Looking forward to new & interesting things from her.

Both my husband and I absolutely loved it!! The only thing I did differently was to use about half the amount of red wine for the marinade. Other than that, I stuck to the recipe, and it was wonderful! Had some good crusty bread & real butter with it, and it was SOOO good! Thanks, Ina, for yet ANOTHER great recipe!

Love, love, love it! This was the first time making beef stew and it turned out great. The only things I did differently from the recipe were in using only 1-1/2 lbs. of meat, and substituting dried tarragon for fresh, and tomato paste for the chopped sun-dried tomatoes. I also used only 1/2 a bottle of red wine for the overnight marinade, and it was plenty. My only beef (pun intended would be that the recipe calls for too much pepper, but that is a matter of personal taste. Thanks, Ina!

This was the best beef stew we have ever made. I followed the recipe except that I finished cooking it in a crock pot. When we got home from work, our house smelled so good. I have made many beef stews before so I am guessing it was the soaking in the wine overnight that made it better. I used an $8 Cabernet that was on sale for $5.

My wife and I made this for our Sunday dinner. We had 7 for dinner and made the recipe for 12. It was fantastic the first time. We marinated the meat over night in a bottle of Shiraz. By the end of dinner it was all gone. No left-overs. Recommend following the recipe. Also, we sauteed the vegtables in a separate pot. We will indeed make this recipe again, many times. Enjoy!

Very Disappointed. I made this stew and had to throw it away. Loved the consistency of the gravy but did not like the wine taste at all. My husband took 3 bites and said "I hate to tell you this but this is the only thing you have ever made me that I haven't liked." We've been married for 16 years. It might be really good if you leave out the wine.
