My first try at making soup, not only was it good but Ina's show helped me walk through it like a pro. Yes, you surely do need to like red wine to like this one. YUMMY!

This recipe was pretty good... If I ever make again, I will skip the flouring of the beef. All this did was make a huge, gooey mess, nor did Ina do it in the show.

Other than that, it had great flavor & was not too winey at all (as I saw mentioned in some reviews. I used a Red Zin. for my wine & it was very good. I also prepped in the pot, but then transferred to the crock-pot to cook all day.

Pass... but largely fail. Thanks to Florenciavaldes for the heads-up about the wine. She's right! I only used 1/4 the wine mixed with some Worcestershire sauce to marinate. It was just right. One more drop and it would have been too winey. Skip the sundried tomatoes. Also, sauteeing the beef made it RIDICULOUSLY dry. Next time, I'll just chuck the beef in. Go for red potatoes and add green beans. A little cornstarch helped make it less runny.

Excellent stew! I only used 1/2 Bottle of Australian Shiraz wine to marinade, and only for 4 hours. I also added a sliced Parsnip and omitted the Peas to the vegs.I made up for the liquid by adding 3 Cups quality Beef Stock instead of Chicken stock. My lady had a touch of the flu, and this was a great comfort meal with some awesome crusty Pane Toscano bread for her. Of course, I had the remainder of the Bold Shiraz wine with the stew! Great recipe from the "Barefoot Contessa"! Thanks Ina!

Sorry Ina...This was not a favorite of mine. The wine taste was a bit too strong, and the meat for some reason tasted very dry.

I will stick to my version better...

Delicious, a real Winter warmer. Incredibly flavourful and very easy to make. Another winner from Ina!

Great mixture of flavors. When I saw marinade in red wine I had to try, same thing I do with my steaks (with garlic and oregano. Like others have already said, although there are a lot of strong flavors they seem to complament each other and not over power.

This was amazingly delicious. Everything was tender but not mushy, and so flavorful. The strong flavors all worked well together: red wine, beef, rosemary, sun dried tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce... You can taste them all, but they come together harmoniously.

Fantastic! So full of flavor. The meat melts in your mouth. Everything just works. Not an average beef stew.

PS...you might want to double the portions for left overs!
