I love split pea soup and this is the best recipe I have come across. I sometimes add ham or chicken sausage, but it is good as is, too. My kids love it and actually get excited when I make it.

I love most of Ina's recipes, but Parker doesn't do Ina any favors with this recipe. I adore pea soup and make it often. I just tried this recipe on a whim, but I'll go back to my standard recipe, with a smoked ham hock. This recipe required constant seasoning correction and still ended up blah.

I've had the split peas in the cubbard for months and finally decided to try the soup, it was a winner! I cooked the peas in homemade chicken broth and sauteed the onions, carrots and new potatoes before adding them to the pot. It's August here, and this soup is delicious in the heat!

Wonderful soup! My husband and I did not care for the "crunch" of the dried peas that are added later in the recipe. So, I cook all the peas until soft before serving. Wonderful with the carrots!

This recipe was great! Although, it tasted good as-is, I added two chipotle peppers to give the soup a kick; it was awesome!.

This soup was wonderful. It is very thick, so I ended up adding additional water with about 5 minutes left to go, but the flavor was great. We'll definitely be making it again.

This really is a wonderful soup. It has so many layers of flavor and it is just delicious. Ina's Corn Chowder Soup is also out of this world. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

This recipe was very good.I really didn't like Split pea soup until i made this on. Be careful not to scorch or burn it. Try it.

Very good flavor and not very difficult or time consuming.
