Love this recipe. I added some chopped smoked ham to give it extra flavor & texture. Delicious!!

Your standard ordinary split pea soup. Most any recipe is as good or better.

I have been making split pea soup for over 25 years, but this receipe is the best I have ever made. Because it was so good, I thoughtI would try the same recipe, except substituting the peas with dried beans. Again - the best - but need to add a little more liquid because the beans are larger than the peas. Thank you Ina - I now regularly watch your show.

I really loved this version of split pea soup, and I didn't need a ham bone for flavor!

This is an amazing soup with incredible flavor (even without the traditional hambone! I used chicken stock, and it was rich and hearty. I thought the second addition of split peas was ingenious - no need to puree as the first split peas simply break down. I have recommended this recipe to all of my friends. Freezes well too!

Very simple and great flavor. Next time I won't use canned broth... it was a bit salty.

This recipe was very good considering it did not call for ham. I put the mixture in the blender and added a LOT of water to thin it down because it was extrememly thick. Very good (except I'm breastfeeding and I don't think it agreed with my baby.
