This recipe was very good considering it did not call for ham. I put the mixture in the blender and added a LOT of water to thin it down because it was extrememly thick. Very good (except I'm breastfeeding and I don't think it agreed with my baby.

Fantastic! I never liked split pea soup as a child, but when I watched the Barefoot Contessa make this one I thought I would give it a try. Surprise we all love it and will be making it often around here.

I just made this for my coworkers and they all said it was very good. A couple of them were a little leary because of the split pea but it's not like your ordinary split pea soup. I like this texture much better. Very easy to make, too.

I love this recipe, but adding bacon or smoked turkey makes this soooo much better. I used less than half the oil and salt called for in the recipe and added about 1/4 lb of bacon. I also used whole baby carrots cut in half and very small (walnut size dutch baby potatoes - oh, and I doubled the garlic. It was even better the next day. Thanks Ina, I'm going to have to buy one of your cookbooks someday soon. I owe you!

I increased the amount of water in this recipe and it still turned out very very thick. And it wasnt very flavorful. It needed some smoky type of ham...
