My wife's favorite kind of soup is split pea. So I decided to suprize her by making some. I used this recipe and she LOVED it. I've made id several times since, but I made a few tweaks... I also use thyme and a little basil to give the flavor a little more depth, a bit more garlic, and when I have leftover ham I throw some of that in too. Very tasty!

Delicious! I did add a meaty ham bone, a couple of bay leaves, and used stock made from a smoked turkey. Nice and thick and just scrumptious!

I'm never sorry when I take a cue from Ina. Jeffrey's a lucky lucky boy! I like to add a diced granny smith in lieu of a potato, and just a pinch of cardamom, and always immersion blend the soup because we like it smooth, then top with a little Greek yogurt to serve - maybe a couple of garlic croutons, too. It may be 20 degrees outside, but in here it's warm and yummy! Thanks, Ina!

Ina never dissappoints..I always look for her recipes when I want to try something new. I loved this mostly because it wasn't muddled with alot of 'stuff', the flavor of all the veggies shined. I added some chopped ham at the end and it only added to the flavors. I blended about 1/2 the soup and left the rest chunky, it made for great texture. Thanks Ina - again!

Easy! I followed the recipe exactly as printed and it turned out delicious and lasted for over a week. It does make a tremendous amount of soup, but it so delicious, thick, hearty, and healthy.

super easy and SO good! as with other recipes i make, i made a few changes. i used less olive oil, more onion and more garlic. i also put a ham bone in for the first 40 minutes of simmer time. i took it out when i added the other 1/2 pounds of peas. and i added some chopped pre-cooked ham, about 3/4 cup. really good! i love ina!

I thought this was a bit bland. However, I used a hand blender to smooth it out and it made it just kinda brown. I also had left out the potatoes. I was looking for a traditional smooth spilt pea soup and this wasn't it. Maybe it taste different with potatoes and not blended? I usually love Ina though. Her Cranberry Harvest muffins are to die for!
