I thought this was pretty yummy, it made a much larger dish than I thought, I had to split it up between 2. Also I added 1 TSP of cinammon. And it was a little too juicy, even after I added the extra flour. But it was a crowd pleaser and I will make it again

I bought a HUGE bag of peaches for $3 (love summer! and had to use them. So I found this recipe, but instead of raspberries went with blueberries. I also didn't have any orange so I used the zest of one lime and also added some cinnamon, allspice, and clove to the mix. Considering how many negative comments there were about the orange zest, i'm thinking this was a good substitution. Besides that I followed the same measurements for everything else and it was DELICIOUS! I prefer a little thicker, crunchier crisp topping so I will probably make more of it next time and add more oatmeal or even mix some granola into it. I also recommend using tart peaches so that it won't be too sweet and also the slices will still have some firmness after cooking.

Sometimes I wonder about negative comments left about Ina, every single recipe of hers I have made has been perfect. When I search for recipes on this site I always go straight to hers first. This recipe was a crowd pleaser for sure! Definitely added to my recipe book, and I didn't change a thing :

this crisp was pretty good, but there was waaaayyyy to much butter in the topping - it formed a skim on the top that could be chunked off once it cooled off.

I was very excited about making this dessert but it just didn't turn out. I did subsitute wheat flour for white flour and soy butter for regular butter but it was all just a big gloppy bland mess. I should have taken into account that there is more gluton in white flour then in wheat flour and so therefore should have added more flour to make up for it but even if I did it still wouldn't have tasted that great. I do have to say though that the crumb topping was delicious and I would make that again. So! Unfortunatly, I would not make this again. I'de rather find a recipe that actually works the first time then try and make this one work. Sorry Ina!

i was disappointed with the flavor quality. please specify how much orange zest to use. also the crumb topping is verybland..if i try this again i will add my own touch to mix it a bit with more flavor, such as more oatmeal and a tad of cinnamon. i do find that her recipes are lacking a bit of zing flavoring!

this crisp was so good, I had to control myself so that I would not eat too much. The oatmeal topping is just wonderful and the orange zest really adds depth to the dish. I only added half of the orange zest, which I think was perfect, and I cubed the peaches because that's just my preference. It filled my house with a wonderful smell and it tastes just as good as it smells; this dessert is great served hot and topped with vanilla ice cream. This one is definitely a keeper.

This was a nice recipe, but the orange zest was overpowering! There was very little peach taste! My freshly picked SC peaches apparently were not very sweet, so the dish needed more sugar too.

I must eat gluten free since I have Celiac Disease. I used 3 Tablespoons of tapioca flour for thickening and the consistancy was perfect. I had to change the topping to be gluten free as well. I used 2 cups oatmeal, only one stick of melted butter, 1/4 cup Pamela's Gluten Free Baking Mix - with the same amount of sugar and salt as the original recipe.

If I were to make this again using the same peaches, I would add at least 1/2 cup more sugar and only one teaspoon of orange zest - if any. You probably should taste the peaches before you put the topping on. Fresh peaches really can be variable in their sweetness.
