When i was in Jr. High...1975 eek! The peanut butter part of this recipe was the treat of all treats!! (if you were lucky enough to get one, as they sold out fast! the Barefoot contessa, with no surprise, has revamped it and maddeit even more decidant than ever! I think I just died and went to heaven... THANK YOU!! I thought I would never taste that flavor again. I am warm and fuzzy all over again..

I made these for the office staff at work. The ladies all loved them, alot of them are peanut butter addicts. When I tasted them right after they were cool enough to try I didn't think much of them, but after 2 days the flavor improved so much I thought they were great.Try them. Easy to make but let them sit for a day or so.

My husband described with following adjectives: dense, potent, tasty. I used seedless raspberry jelly, which didn't give the flavor that I thought it needed. Next time, I'll use regular jelly.

I loved these, but next time I will bake them 5 minutes less, the edges got a little too crispy.

These bars are very good, and very rich. I baked them for about 30 minutes and they started getting dark. I have a convection oven, which may be the reason. I did save them in time and they are a hit!!

These are wonderful. The dough would also make an excellent peanut butter cookie without the jam. I think I will shave 5 mins off the cooking time when I make them again. Edges got a bit hard. Probably my oven....

I love PB&J and I love dessert. This was different. The only thing, I may cut my batter in half next time so I wont have the whole 13x9 in front of me. !/2 for now and half for another day (in an 8x8 pan of course. Thanks!!!!

I wanted to make these for my nieces husband, who loves peanut butter anything! Of course, not wanting to skimp on anything, I used my last jar of canned strawberry preserves so that they'd be even better. I made the recipe exactly as directed, however, after 40 mins. in the oven I smelled the peanuts and thought, oh no, it's too late!! They were burnt on the bottom and the whole thing had gotten too brown, and even though I willed myself to believe they'd be alright, they were not. Possibly a problem with my oven, but just in case, watch these as they cook, with all the butter and sugar, they'll burn quickly!

This is a different take on the pb&j. If you do not like pb&j sandwiches....don't try this. However...it a pretty good recipe. However, I did find the crust to be alittle greasy. I believe there is enough fat in the peanut butter to not warrant 2 sticks of butter. If I make these again, I'm going to try it with 1 or 1/2 sticks of butter. These would be delicicous as a breakfast treat. Very delicous with coffee. Thanks Ina for a different take on an American favorite.
