Ina always has excellent desert recipes, and this one is no exception. These are rich and moist, the way a brownie is supposed to be. Though these brownies are high in fat, it does not mean you should eat a ton. Make them for family and friends. This is the way a brownie is supposed to be, so do not critisize how they are unhealthy. All brownies are unhealthy! Just eat in moderation and, as mentioned before, these brownies will not dissapoint you.

I never used a recipe off of Food Network before but decided for Christmas to try these.

After reading some reviews that they were greasy, I was a bit worried. I followed the recipe exact except for the pan size which seemed difficult to find. Be warned the brownies do rise and its better to have a deeper pan. Those who used the peanut butter and said it was too thick- I found using the natural peanut butter which can be more oily to begin with worked well. I used half the instant coffee because of the reviews here, but feel I could have used the full amount.

As far as the cooking, I cooked mine for more than what was called for because of the reviews here. I think those who said it turned out greasy didn't let the brownies set for a few hours and let them cool. When I pulled them out the first time they were still kind of mushy and it had me worried. I left them in for an additional ten minutes, and they were still mushy. After I let them set out in the garage where they cooled, they began to become solid. I put them in the refrigerator and they were perfect. however, they were a bit more crispy than they should have been. I think if you follow the recipe you will be fine. Just try to get the correct size pan.

They were a hit and everyone loved them. As far as cost, if you have the ingredients its not that much. Fact is (as unhealthy as they are, I would rather use this recipe with a few ingredients rather than boxed with 500 unnatural ingredients.

well, I had to substitute unsweetened cocoa powder for the unsweetened chocolate, I made 1/2 a batch and had the wrong pan size (I adjusted cooking time accordingly and these were still probably the best brownies I have ever made from scratch! Thank you Ina, I am def. keeping this recipe!

I have made these a few times and have gotten nothing but compliments. My boss actually wanted me to give the recipe to his wife. If you are looking for a very rich, dense brownie, these are the ones you want to make. If you want something cakey and more like a typical brownie, this is not the recipe for you. They are almost like fudge. I have never found them to come out greasy. Very decadent and very delicious!

Made these brownies as a gift - almost didn't make it to the gift-box!! Very Very flavorful rich brownie.

Two things, first to follow her timing (and "tapping" the pan. Do not over cook these brownies.

Second, the recipe calls for 3 tablespoons of instant coffee, I used 4 tablespoons. Found if "bumped" up the hint of coffee flavor in background.

Thank you for sharing the great recipe!

I loved watching her make this brownies on TV, I am a box brownies junkie and honestly can say that everyone loves my brownies... I wanted to dress to impress and be able to say that the awesome brownies I now make are from scratch - how cool... I made these the exact way she did on the show and YUCK.. I dont like to leave neg feedback but I refused to serve these to my kids.. I knew going into it that they called for a ton of grease and fat but they looked so good on TV... I can honestly say that one other review was right - these should be illegal... Def I think the heart association needs to step in because these have to be the worst brownies for your body ever..... Sorry ... Oh I felt like a great chef making these I really did and I wish I loved them but they just should not soak a paper towel with grease when they are cold.....

These brownies were wonderful!! I made them for the Super Bowl and everyone raved about them. I did think the chocolate chips were a little overkill, so next time I will omit them, but I will swirl more peanut butter in and perhaps add nuts.

I made these brownies for a casual dinner with friends where I was to supply the dessert. They turned out beautifully! There were a few exceptions I had to make though...I only had 2 bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips and salted butter. I cut back to 1/4 tsp of salt to compensate for the salted butter and just used the amount of chips I had in the pantry. I also cut back on the bitter sweet chocolate since my hubby is not too fond of bitter chocolate. All that to say they were wonderful. I've used box mixes in the past and they always, ALWAYS, turn out mediocre. These were the perfect consistency and got rave reviews from our neighbors. It does make a LARGE batch so be ready to share with someone....I truly enjoyed baking these!
