I Love these - I adore peanut butter and chocolate combo I halved the recipie because i didnt wnat to make my family too fat I got 20 brownies out of it still but they were just the right size for a snack - the texture was firm but moist I followed the recipie exactly which is hard tying to get used to american measures when i normally us a scale but they turned out fab and will be making them again - I will serve warm with ice cream next time for a dinner party desert thanks Ina you are wonderful!

These were inedible. Way too much coffee flavor and way too much baking powder - salty chemical taste. I was really disappointed because it is such a large recipe. I threw the whole thing down the drain.

I was looking for a recipe for German's chocolate brownies, and stumbled upon this. As a peanut butter lover, I took one look and HAD to try it. Made them today, and just tried one...heaven in a cake pan! I followed the recipe exactly, except I halved it and used a 9x13 pan, as one other reviewer did. I even left a bit on one end with no peanut butter, as a I have a friend who doesn't like it. I think they are just as good without the peanut butter.

I gave this recipe 3 stars because the texture was dead on. These are very decadent brownies, however, maybe it was the type of coffee granules I used? I'm not sure, but the flavor came out disgusting. I used the Starbuck's Via instant coffee, only 2 pkg's. the brownies were bitter and taste like burned coffee. I'm so sad that they didn't come out well, because not only did they cost over twenty dollars to make, I was making them for my sister in-law who is about to give birth, as a welcome home gift. Luckily I also made an apple pie from Paula Dean that turned out to be the best apple pie and homemade crust I have ever made. I still love Ina's recipes, just not this one.

I am a devoted to Ina. Every recipe I try comes out perfection and these brownies are no exception. It is impossible to find the 18 x 20 pan, but using 2 smaller pans works great and using some common sense on baking time and a little toothpick testing goes a long way to arriving at the perfect brownie. Thanks again Ina for making my family think I am a great cook - it is all you !!!!

I just have to say that, once again, Ina does not fail. She is the queen of quality food. These brownies were absolutely the best. They are rich, creamy, and a glass of milk is a must. To those who said they were too greasy/too much coffee flavor...I didn't find either of those to be true. You HAVE to refrigerate them overnight though or else they ARE greasy and fall apart. Happy eating everyone.

I used half of every ingredient and baked in a 9 x 13, and they came out perfectly. The baking time was basically the same. Absolutely delicious. A little goes a long way though. The consistency is very rich, almost like fudge. I think a half recipe could easily feed 20. Enjoy!

These are delicious! The only problem is I cannot keep enough milk in the house when I make these. Thank you, Ina!
