Raises a simple 'crisp' to a whole new level. The apple/pear combo really elevates this old fashioned stand-by to gourmet, restaurant quality. So yummy and satisfying. I did reduce the sugar in the fruit mixture as I used an apple called Honeycrisp. Quite sweet while staying crisp and firm. A beautiful dessert that goes with any entree or guest list. Ina, you're my hero.

Absolutely DELICIOUS!! I made it to take to a friend's house for Thanksgiving, and everyone raved! I was excited that it made enough for leftovers....I'm still snacking on it. I also think that it would make a delicious breakfast sweet treat with a nice frittata or omelet.

So perfect for a fall dessert, easy and fabulous flavors. If you like this recipe, you have to try Ina Garten's Peach and Blueberry Crumble in summer...it's even better!

amandacable: I made this with gf flour and gf oats for Thanksgiving dessert. It was a winner! More people dug into the cobbler than the family favorite chocolate chocolate chip mint bundt cake! I subbed out the flour with a gf flour mix and bob's red mill gf oats. I loved it! I think I got a bit heavy handed with the lemon and orange juices. I think that made it better! I'll make this again. Know that it does make a LOT--8 servings. But everyone wanted to take some home. So it's all good! Thanks to Ina for helping our Thanksgiving!

amandacable: If you use gluten-free baking mix instead of flour, it looks like you should be all set. Baking mix would be better than plain gf flour because gluten helps to leaven your baking, so you would also have to add in xantham gum, etc, if you only used the flour; baking mix already contains leaveners, so it makes like easier. Oatmeal does not contain gluten (although not all people with celiac can tolerate it, but it may be processed in a facility that produces products containing gluten, so you may want to get a brand that is guaranteed gluten free, if you are concerned (Bob's Red Mill makes one. I think that everything else in the recipe is already gluten free...good luck!

I love the citrus-y zing on the layers of warm, hearty fruit. The crumble is just delicious and eating this crisp a la mode is the best way to experience its perfection. My self-control is seriously tested when it comes to not licking the pan clean. One quick note: if you print off the recipe cards, be sure to review that some of the ingredients aren't omitted; every time I print them, it cuts off some of the instructions, too.

I'm a novice when it comes to baking and desserts. With that said, this is super easy to make and taste great. The crisp was flavorful and the fruit mixture is wonderful. Thanks for the recipe!!

I made this recipe today for a small family BBQ, everyone loved it! People went back for seconds and thirds! It was a big hit and everyone wants the recipe or for me to make them their own special batch! I did omit and add a few ingredients here and there just because somethings i already had on hand and some i didnt. I used quick oats instead of old fashioned I just added a little more then what the recipe called for. I didnt add the lemon or orange but i plan to next time. I added brown sugar to my filling and pecans to my topping. The great thing about this recipe is you can do so many different things with it and change it to your taste. Its so easy to make because the measurements and ingredients dont have to be exact. LOVE LOVE LOVE this recipe and i think i can speak on behalf of my family when i say they loved it to!!!
