I was a little disappointed in this recipe. Don't get me wrong: with two cups of heavy cream and all this delicious cheese, it's certainly tasty - just not as over-the-top as its calorie count and ingredient cost might suggest. I saw where another reviewer added sausage, which is a change I'd consider making if I made it again - a spicy Italian sausage would provide a nice counter balance to the intense creaminess of the dish and added that needed "oomph." Definitely worth making in individual ramekins if you have them in this size, as serving it from a single dish with the mozzarella becomes messy. Didn't stud the top with butter, as with all the fat, that seemed a little over the top, and guests still enjoyed it. There were no leftovers, so I guess that's the ultimate review - just not as fantastic as it seems on paper.

Loved this! I didn't use the gorgonzola, mainly because I couldn't find a small package of it (and I wasn't sure when I wold use more of it I substituted parmesan. I served it as a side dish. It was the hit of our "girls night in." Will definitely make this again!

This is the only one of Ina' recipes I could ever rate 4 stars -- to me, she is always 5 stars.
Anyhoo, the flavors were good, but it lacked creamy-ness, add more milk/cream, etc.

This is a wonderful recipe. I've made it several times and has always been a big hit at dinner parties and pot-lucks! For those counting carbs I use Dreamfields Penne Rigate and no one is the wiser!

This is a great mac & cheese dish with an Italian twist. I have served it for several years at church events and special parties.
Always a hit and easy to make even for very large groups. Sometimes for a little extra creaminess I will add marscapone cheese too!

Very good. One thing I loved about the recipe is that it went together in a snap, and yet it would be great for entertaining. I did add a crushed up clove of garlic in with the hot pasta for a little extra something. Very elegant dish. It did take on just a slight pink color with the tomato puree, and I don't remember seeing that come through in the episode we watched, but no complaints as the taste was phenomenal. Thanks Ina - yet another winner of a recipe.

To lflores in McAllen:
Mix 1 teaspoon of Adams Reserve Truffle Salt with one stick of butter. I got mine at the Cooking Connection in an HEB Plus in San Antonio.

Excellent pasta dish! My family loved it (even 6 year old. I added twice the amount of tomatoes and it worked well. I added sausage and onion in a separate pasta dish for my husband, spinach and mushrooms in a separate one for me, and chicken for my kids. I had read below that the cheese was expensive but I found that at Wegmans in the Cheese Shop they can measure out smaller amounts for you so you don't have to get more than you need for the dish and the total for the cheese came to less than $10. Overall a very good meal!
