I followed this recipe to the tee except I used a whole turkey breast instead of a whole turkey. It was moist and perfectly seasoned all my guests enjoyed it immensely. Its a keeper!

I made my 1st Thanksgiving Turkey this year and used Ina's Perfect Roast Turkey recipe. It was truly perfect! We had approximately 10 guests for dinner and the turkey was a hit with all! I would definitely recommend this recipe to anyone whether its the 1st turkey your ever making or the 100th. It was so tasty and juicy =

Amazing. I hate turkey as a rule, and I made this for my first Thanksgiving dinner. I brined it first with some cut up lemons, oranges, salt, and brown sugar (Emeril's recipe for brined turkey. I then followed Ina's instructions exactly. I even overcooked the turkey a bit ... the breast was 180*F when I pulled it out (oops and it was still so moist. I couldn't believe it ... I actually LIKED turkey! I will always make this exact recipe from now on. Thanks!

The title of this receipe is so right on the money.

I have never roasted a chicken never mind a turkey and I was nervous.

I hosted Thanksgiving for the first time ever and let me tell you when I tell you I was nervous.

So I looked at so many recipes and asked everyone how they cooked their turkey, I got a different answer each time. Then I thought wait let me go to my go to place for recipes and I punch in Roast turky and a few receipes came up.

I decided on Ina's recipe because I have cooked a few of her other recipes with success.

I even watched the video and the video was also on demand so I watched a few more times. (Can you tell I was nervous

I cooked a 16lb turkey (thank you foodnetwork.com for telling me how long to cook the turkey. I did let it rest for about 45 minutes and it came out perfect.

My family said it was delicious and I have to agree.

Thank you Ina and Foodnetwork.com for making my first Thanksgiving a success.

It took more than 2.5 hours to cook. It came out midium and guest had to wait another 1 hour to eat turkey. I even increased the temperature for last 1 hour cooking.
The taste was really good. I could eat it without gravy.

Wonderful!! The couple changes I made were lowering temp to 325 and to add can of chicken broth and 1/2 cup white wine to roasting pan. If you don't I find the little amount of drippings in the beginning starts to burn. Regarding the temp, I saw her make a turkey on tv and that is the temp she used. It was also the temp directed on the turkey packaging. My 13 lb turkey took 3 1/2 hours. It looked and tasted great. Next time I will try just softening the butter and then adding the thyme and lemon. This way I can rub some under the skin. I also saved a small amt of the defatted drippings and poured it over the carved turkey before I made Ina's perfect gravy. Thanks again Ina!!
