I have all of Ina's cookbooks. In the book she says to add 1 cup of cranberry juice. That may be why a lot of people think this recipe is too strong. A true 'cosmo' has cranberry juice and Ina does include this in the book. Not sure why it's not here.

I have made this many times. Everyone always love this drink. User beware, it packs a punch, but is verygood.

A fantastic drink and a "proper" martini--hence the strength. I do have a suggestion for those unaccustomed to--or not interested in--a drink this strong. Add an additional cup of POM (or Cranberry juice and one cup of simple syrup. While still a potent cocktail, the edge is removed for folks watching their alcohol intake.

Much too strong for me. It was much better once I added alot more pomegranite juice to tame down the alcohol.

i think the taste of this drink is pretty good but the amount of alcohol made the drink far too strong my taste. i had to add alot of extra juice to it. next time id reduce the alcohol to about half.

Simple to make ahead of time, great flavor! I added a little more pomegranate juice than called for and they were still plenty strong!! If you can't chill your glasses (I certainly don't have that much space in my freezer! you can keep the cafe on ice and put a piece of ice in the glass.

Everyone is correct -- watch out THESE SNEAK UP VERY QUICKLY. I made a pitcher of these last summer for a dinner party we had which included two other couples. Served these with appetizers and everyone loved them so much that we each had two. We served wine with dinner and seriously -- I don't think any of us remember what we ate! I know we laughed an awful lot. I normally just like a Belvedere martini, shaken extra hard, a little dirty -- but this particular martini is the most outstanding thing I've ever had. Way to go Ina. I love watching your show and your Back to Basics recipe book is absolutely outstanding. Thanks so much.

Don't be afraid to add a touch more juice. Do keep an eye on your guests, as this one will sneek up on you.

Outstanding, delicious and buzz-guaranteed. Sip slowly, very slowly. Halfway through the first one you start to feel it--like what you might expect from illicit drugs. One down and you're humming. Two down too quickly and you're drunk. Be careful, take 'em slowly and enjoy this outrageous Martini. For the lightweights who complain that it's too strong, what I have found really good is to add 1 cup of FRESH squeezed orange juice to the batch. It's less like a Martini that way--and it's easier to drink, so be careful. But it takes longer this way for these cocktails to kick your @$$ into oblivion.
