I made this last year instead of cheesecake and it was a crowd pleaser. Definitely adding it to my personal library of favorites.

I didn't have any pumpkin on hand and Alton said the canned pumpkin is a not good eats, so I used steamed and pureed sweet potatoes. The tart came out great and there were no leftovers. The only change I would make next time is to use less sugar in the crust. It was a little too sweet for my taste. Try this tart, you won't be disappointed.

This recipe took a little time, but well worth the effort! The combination
of flavors were wonderful. Definately
one that will be made each year for
Thanksgiving at our house.!!

This pie was easy enough and flavor was good, but it is NOT a pumpkin pie in the traditional sense. The zest overpowered the pie so much that it's all you really tasted! If you're looking for Mom's good ol' pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, I'd advise you look somewhere else!

My family loved this tart. It's very much like pumpkin pie, with a twist. This tart will be on our table Thanksgiving day!
I took other reviewers' advice and doubled the spice in the pumpkin mixture (not in the crust, and it really was perfect. I might reduce the amount of orange zest the next time I make it because the orange flavor was just a wee bit much.
Oh, one last tip. We don't have an 11-inch tart pan with removable bottom. I used my 9-inch springform pan, and it worked just fine. It seems that an 11-inch pan would make the tart too flat.

This is by far oen of the best surprises I have ever had. Banana is one of my favorite if not THE favorite fruit. I would never have guessed to combine it with the spices and texture of pumpkin but the hidden taste is a true wow! I should have known better than to second guess the Barefoot Contessa! Hurray for a great culinary experience. It will be on the Horowitz Holiday table!
