great layers of flavor and combination of orange and raspberry in all the components were soooo good. My husband who normally doesn't eat desserts had 2 helpings, complaining all the while how he shouldn't be doing it. The colors were so bright and pretty in the trifle bowl as well.

Oranges and raspberries actually make a great combo. This recipe can easly be rearranged to include your favorite combos like vanilla and blueberry, lemon and raspberry perhaps, etc, so I will make again using another flavor combo!
Be careful when making the pastry cream - mine came together exactly at the end of the cooking time. You do have to stir pretty much constantly. I did add some extra cornstarch to mine because I halved the whole recipe and may have been a little off. Ended up adding some more milk when I thought it became too thick too.
Also, mine probably could have came out @ 45 mins, but I left in an hour and was a little dry...but the orange "glaze" does help bring some moisture in.
Have fun!
