I'm a vegetarian; and often try Ina's recipes with a vegetarian twist. I tried this recipe using lentils in place of the meat. I also did the meat version for my family minus the veal. Mine were out of this world. My family just raved about the meat version. Ina's recipes always seem to be a big hit with my family.

The reviewers were right - this was absolutely delicious. I basically followed the recipe except I used all ground beef and I had to omit the wine (didn't have any on hand, and it was still excellent. My husband told me three times over dinner how great the spaghetti and meatballs were. I snuck two whole meatballs before I even served the meal. By the way, I used Dreamfield's Low Carb spaghetti - it is surprisingly delicious... even better than our regular spaghetti choice. Go figure! Be sure to follow the recommended cook time on the package exactly - and you'll have perfectly cooked al dente pasta every time. Thanks, Ina, for another outstanding recipe! DELISH!

Amazing!! Best pasta dish I've ever made! I didn't have seasoned bread crumbs, so used all regular white bread crumb. I cut way down on the oil since I'm a healthy cook. I used San Marzano tomatoes and whole wheat spaghetti. Absolutely fantastic! My husband is a picky pasta eater, and he loved it, and was super impressed! Next time the only change I would make is to cut down on the salt by 1/4. I had to add some water at the end to get it down to the right salt level. Insanely good recipe!! You've got to try it!!!

Absolutely delicious. I give this dish a ten! The meatballs are so tender and flavorful and the sauce is amazing. I make italian a lot and my husband said this is the best pasta dish I've made yet!

i followed exactly what the receipt said, the sauce is delicious, but the meatball didn't work for me. i will use the receipt for the sauce to go with the pasta when making parmesan chicken.

I have a number of Barefoot Contessa cookbooks and use them all the time. The meatball's and sauce are the best, have made them four times already. I have not had better and I owned a fine dinning Italian restaurant at one time. The recipe is so good my Jack Russell at the recipe, (the paper copy, and I was afraid I could not find it again. Thanks goodness I found it ...made to copies this time.

Meatballs were good, sauce was better (added fresh basil & a pinch of sugar. Would make the sauce again, but prefer my own meatballs which has garlic and more spices. Love to try different recipes which most of Ina's are excellent. This is good just not 5 star for me. Happy cooking to all! :

Review for Meatballs - Great! Being only two of us, wanted to only make half the meatball recipe. All measurements halved except I used the full egg and the meat was 1 lb. of Italian ground sausage.

I love this recipe, my picky kids love it. The only thing I do different is I use 2 lbs of ground turkey, we aren't pork or beef eaters. Otherwise, I do everything just the same as Ina did in the recipe. It is really good. I use an ice cream scoop to get the meatballs all the same size, works out perfect.

Best meatballs I can remember making. Loved the sauce. I added red pepper flakes for a little heat. Great!!
