This soup is so good that I think my husband and I could eat it every week. It is beyond delicious!

Ina, I loved making this easy and wonderful soup. I have shared some of the soup with co-workers. Now they also want the receipt. Thank you! The only modification I made to this soup was canned cannelloni beans. This is be a family favorite!

I've made this recipe for a couple of years now. I tried it only once with the savoy cabbage and didn't really like it so I omitted it. I DO use Lacinato Kale, which is what they taught us in Italy to use. You can find it at Whole Foods. In Italy they call it Black Cabbage. I love making this recipe. I also use 3 cans of canned beans and put one of the cans in the food processor to thicken it up. I also buy the pancetta in a package at the grocery store and its wonderful!

After reading many recipes, I decided on Ina's with the following modifications based on our preferences: no pancetta or bacon was used. I sauteed/sweated the aromatics in 3 tablespoons chili olive oil, used fresh chopped spinach in place of kale, used 3 -15 ounce cans of white beans (rinsed and drained I-15 ounce can white beans (rinsed, drained and mashed used regular cabbage and added the bread when reheating for dinner (as I wanted to freeze the rest. the result: my vegetarian niece LOVED it abd the soup froze perfectly, This is a very adaptable and affordable recipe for big crowds. Please save your parm rinds in the freezer and add to soups, gives so much bang for the buck!

OMG!!! This recipe is fantastic! I made two modifications - due to time constraints, I used canned beans vs dried beans, and they were just as tasty. Also, I added frozen meatballs to add some extra heartiness. I cooked this for my husband's lodge meeting last night - they have requested that I cook it again at an upcoming event!!!!! If I could give it more than five stars, I would give it 100!!!!!!! And it is SOOOOOOOO easy to make!!!

I made this recipe during a Daniel fast so I didn't add meat, cheese, or bread. This soup was so delicious that my husband requested that I make a second batch! This is truly delicious. Try it! Share it!

I LOVE this soup. I make it all the time and keep in the fridge to have a bowl when hunger strikes between meals. I omit the bacon and bread and add more kale to make it healthier, and it is still delicious with a capital Yum!

This is a great recipe! I have never written a review before even tho I have used many recipes from foodtv. I used all fresh veggies and the soup delicous not a bit bland! I did double the red pepper flakes. I saw Ina make this yesterday it looked easy... today is rainy and cold so the soup was perfect. I'm going to try the peanut butter and jelly bars from the same show when my granddaughter comes over this week.

I thought this was average at best. Not very flavorful (another reviewer was right when she said it was a bit bland considering everything in there- there are much better soup recipes out there.

Delish! First time EVER using kale. I bought it and didn't know what to do with it. Glad I found this recipe. I didn't have pancetta (as we're cutting out nearly all animal fat these days, nor cabbage. I used a 16 oz can of beans, dumped in the entire 16 oz bag of pre-cut, cleaned Kale I bought at Publix (great time saver, and only used a 12oz can of organic chopped tomatoes and a quart of organic broth. Three cloves of garlic, not six. My proportions were a little off from the recipe, but I would do it just the same next time! The fresh basil and parmesean were a perfect finish. My husband and I loved it.
