I received 2 boxes of Royal Riviera pears for a gift and was dying to try some new recipes. The rave reviews convinced me to try this recipe. I made it for a bunch of "foodies" as my dish for Christmas dinner. We paired it with a beautiful 2006 Pinot Noir from Three Sticks. It was a huge hit, so delicious. I used Pecans instead of walnuts because I had them--I will go to sleep dreaming of the marriage of those flavors. I will make this recipe over and over. It has gone in the stack with my favorites. Happy, Yummy Holidays!

I served this recipe as an appetizer on thanksgiving with hot buttered rolls. It was soooo delicious. My husband soaked up all the juice dressing with his rolls. My grandchildren (who don't particularly like salads, even loved it.

The following Saturday my son, daughter-in-law and there four children came over for dinner. Well, I wanted to repeat the appetizer, however, I did not have pears nor blue cheese (since I used them up on Thursday. So I did the same exact recipe using apples and cheddar cheese. WOW ... turned out awesome.

THANKS INA ... I love you ... you are my favorite chef

This is wonderful! I made it for my family this Thanksgiving and it is now a family favorite. It was easy to make and the flavor contrasts were in delicious layers. For those who were allergic to blue cheese, I used a simple creamy white cheese that melted well to mix with the cranberries and nut mixture without melting away. Thank you for a delicious addition to our meal.

I have made this salad a few times and its wonderful each time. Very rich. I can only eat one pear. But what a robust, full, rich, heart warming salad.

I had lots of blue cheese and wanted to use it up. So I looked up blue cheese on this web site and decided to give this recipe a try. As I assembled the ingredients I wasn't sure this recipe was going to be tasty. I was not familiar with the arugula and wasn't sure I liked it. The combination of cranberries with such a strong cheese was also iffy. The dish was simple and fun to make. But when I put the dish together with a little of each ingredient on my fork: SURPRISE! I was so right for trying this new dish. I shared it with my family and everyone was wow'd. This is a must try! I have not had this combination of flavors before but now this is in my top 5 recipe list! Its not hard to make but it feels fancy and impressive! yum yum

We wanted somethign different for a dessert. Other than the usual cake, cookies, ice cream... So i tried this pear dish as a dessert. It was great. But i was thinking that it could even be served as a nice little lunch. Keep the dishes coming Ina.
