I have been making this soup for about 3 years. My family and I never tire of it and we eat the soup year round: hot in winter and cold in summer. It is so refreshing cold. The soup is so easy to make and so full of flavor. Thanks so much, Ina, for all of the wonderful recipes and ideas you give us. I never miss your show, even the reruns!

I love roasting vegetable and freezing them for the winter. I purposely froze tons of plum tomatoes for this soup as it is a family favorites. I have made it over 5 times now and it gets better with age. The only problem with that is the lack of leftovers. Thank you Ina!!!!

This recipe calls for 91 grams of fat (1/4 oo plus 2 more tbsp and 2 more tbsp of butter. Tastes good, but "low-fat?" You have to be joking.

I love this recipe for Tomato Basil Soup! I am not a big fan of canned tomato soup as it tastes exactly like the can it comes from or it has a "fake" tomato taste, so I was happy Ina had a fairly simple recipe for it. The only changes I made were: I only used two packages of basil, I roasted the garlic with the tomatoes and I used a food processor instead of a food mill. The nice part about roasting the tomatoes is that it makes their skin so soft, you don't even need to pick them out of the soup before you process it....the food processor blends them really well!

My bf and I definitely enjoyed this recipe. However, without a few additions, it tasted a bit too much like pasta sauce for my taste. I added 3/4 cup of sour cream, more pepper and a dash of mik. We ate it with a jarlsberg swiss cheese sandwich, yum! Thanks Ina:

I have made this soup twice and my husband and I love it. I serve it with sour dough broiled with a little gruyere, yummy!
