I did the prep in the afternoon. My guests were coming at 7, so I started the onion and leeks about 10 to. I soaked the lentils a half hour and they cooked in the time alloted. My salmon stuck alittle when I seared them, but did't break apart. I used vegetable broth because my guest were vegetarians who occasionally eat fish. The first course was Jamie Oliver's mothership tomato salad with mozzerella. Enough left over to serve over hot pasta. Dessert was brownies with vanilla ice cream. Very pleased with everything the guest raved about the lentils and I was pleased how quickly the salmon cooked.

This recipe as incredible! The lentils are a feast by themselves and the method for cooking the salmon was perfect. I didn't have leeks so I just used green onions and it still came out perfectly. Follow her recipe and don't touch the salmon for 2 minutes after putting it in the pan. I cooked it for 6 minutes in the oven and it was moist and delicious. I wouldn't add any cumin to the lentils. They were so flavorful and sweet with the onions, celery, and carrots. And the red wine vinegar added the right acidity to the entire dish.

OMG! To die for. I was so embarrassed at the way my salmon turned out it was pink with a white tough texture. Last week Ina cooked this salmon with lentils and I watched diligently A very hot pan, oil, 2 minutes down, DO NOT MOVE, 4 - 5 minutes in a 450 degree oven ...... Perfection.
Thank you, thank you so much, I am ashamed no longer of my salmon cooking abilities

Excellent. Neither of my sons have ever eaten lentils and they LOVED it. I did add a 1/4 tsp of cumin to the lentils.

Aside from using dried thyme I followed this recipe to the letter & it was/is wonderful. I enjoy the hit of vinegar at the end. The salmon was perfect & I will use this method to cook salmon in the future.
Only complaint that the lentils will feed an army! Makes a lot more then 4 servings.

These lentils are amazing. The vinegar at the end completely transforms it from good to fabulous. I made it for a dinner party and did them an hour in advance then reheated, added some fresh thyme and parsley and the vinegar. Delicious!

Made the lentils with my own salmon recipe for a small dinner party and thought the flavors were fantastic. Had some of the lentils left over and it made a very tasty soup with added chicken broth and a dash of cream.
