One of the early users declared "DO NOT use kosher salt..." Dear one, the purpose of using the kosher salt is so that you get bits of it when you eat the shortbread. Many shortbread recipes call for salt; sometimes sprinkled on the top. Give it a try, you'll like it.

This is a very nice recipe. Nothing special, just good.

I tried the recipe last night and had such a hard time with the dough. When I tried to roll the dough out after removing it from the fridge, the dough was crumbled and cracked. Does anyone know why it happened that way? I did bake some and it tasted good.

As usual, Ina Garten gives us a easy, and delicious recipe. She never fails me. Thank you Ina, once again.

I have made these cookies many, many times....I actually use Ina's pecan shortbread cookie recipe with rave reviews and requests for more. I've made guitars, airplanes, violins, letters, hearts, holiday shapes and many others . . . mostly embellished with chocolate (dunked or drizzled and people go crazy! I personalize them and package them differently each time. Today's challenge will be trying toasted hazelnuts in place of pecans!
Keep you posted! Ina - I'm cooking my way through your books with great success!

I made these for my family and they loved them. It's a great recipe and very easy to make. It can also be used for a pie crust.
I also made a different version of the cookies by adding a tsp of pure lemon extract. They were delicious and refreshing.

This was so easy! I used my bread maker since I don't have a fancy standing mixer and it did the job beautifully! Can't wait to make these for an event.
