To K9srock. I think your recipe is spot on. I use the same ingredients to make Russian dressing, although I substitute chopped cornichons for the pickle relish. I am very disappointed in the Contessa's recipe; it's really not to her standards.

Add some Worchestershire and this is more of a French dressing. I make my own Russian dressing and it classically has pickle relish included. My Russian dressing has 2/3 cup mayo (or sour cream and 1/3 cup ketchup. Add 1/4 cup pickle relish, 1 tsp fresh lemon juice, 1 TBSP Worchestershire, 1 tsp good mustard, 1/8 cup capers (chopped and salt, pepper to taste. Fresh dill gives it a nice flavor, too.

Russian Dressing: This is one of my favorite dips. It is easy to make and I always have the ingredients on hand. I have been making it since I was a little kid but I never new it had a name.
