I just tried this recipe and while it does not taste horrible it is a little weird. I'm not sure if it was the orange juice or one of the other spices but the result was definitely disappointing. The sweet potatoes would have tasted MUCH better plain.

no reason you couldn't bring this to room temp and then bake it right?

I am 26 years old and have been cooking most of my life so I am no stranger to cooking wonderful homecooked meals. This will be my first year making sweet potato's and looking at this recipe I already have wonderful ideas to make it better. I am going to add chopped pecans before placing the sweet potato mixture in the baking dish and top with Marshmallows and a dark rum butter cream sauce during the last 10 mins of cooking time. I am excited to see how it will turn out!

I made this for a weeknight dinner for 2. I halved the recipe and switched the nutmeg and cinnamon measurements (there should always be more cinnamon than nutmeg. It turned out fantastic, the OJ made it feel lighter and brought out the spices. This will definitely become my go-to sweet potato recipe.

Made it for thanksgiving and all the kids and hubby who doesn't like sweet potatoes, really loved it. The test of success: no leftovers.

A big hit overall with my family, but was a bit heavy on the nutmeg. Will definitely do this again many times over, just reducing the nutmeg, although I did use dried nutmeg versus freshly grated. Was spectacular with a nicely-herbed, roasted pork loin.

I read all the comments on this page so I microwaved the potatoes in their skins for 20 minutes and they just slid right outta their skins when done - EASY. I then followed the recipe exactly (except a little extra cinnamon and they were the best ever. I will never go back to syrup and marshmellows again. These actually tased like a healthy vegetable that you would like to eat all day and didn't make you feel like your teeth would rot out. I took this to a neighbors house for Christmas Eve and came home empty handed, everybody had at least 2 helpings. The orange juice made this a recipe to remember.

I realized that I forgot to add the butter to the mix once I but them in to finish baking, but they were perfect and sweet when we took them out... and a bit healthier minus the butter!

Great recipe. I made a test batch for some friends and I got rave reviews. I will be bringing this to a potluck next week.
