I made this tonight and it was extremely tasty! I was fortunate enough to get fresh dill and Norweigan Smoked Salmon. The minor drawback of this receipe was with the recommended 4oz. of smoked salmon; it made the dip taste a little too cream cheesy. So I added another 2oz of Wild Alaskan Smoked Salmon and another 1/4 teaspoon of freshly chopped dill and 1/4 teaspoon of cayene pepper (couldn't help it---I'm Jamaican, needed the extra kick!. I also substituted the French baguettes for a Whole Grain Organic Bread that I quartered and brushed with olive oil and lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and baked in the oven for ten minutes. This will definitely be a staple at family and formal gatherings!

Made this for New Year's Day guests and served with assorted crackers and Everything Bagel chips. Everyone really enjoyed this and we will be making it again. No changes other than we has to use dried dill because fresh was not available.

This turned out great. I couldn't find any fresh dill so I used dry. I used about the same amount as the recipe called for and for us it was perfect. Not to many expensive ingredients and simple to make. I will certainly make this again.

I made this as one of 2 app.'s last x-mas eve (the other was a hot crab app from Emeril both were huge hits. Ina's I followed to a T, Emeril's I cut back on the heat. Now I'm asked to bring a app. again for x-mas eve Ina's was great easy and less expensive . Emeril's asked for 1 lb. of crab plus cheese and everthing else (I don't cut corner's in products, I believe what Ina say's "quality counts". This was tasting without cutting corners and as long as you stick with quality products it taste as good as the other app. with all the lump crab I made that was twice as expensive if not more. Ina thanks for your great ideas!!!

I made this for two family gatherings, exactly as Ina wrote it. It was really delicious, I think, because by the time I got to taste the appetisers, this was just about gone. I just made it again for a party. I was out of dill, so I used some fennel. I used Northwest salmon, and it is a bit salty. Next time I will salt after adding the salmon, After standing a few hours it should be fine. But do let it sit, preferable overnight: it does make a difference. Thanks, Ina!

OMG...this is sooo good. I substituted fat free greek yogurt for sour cream and reduced fat cream cheese for regular cream cheese to reduce the fat so that I could justify using more salmon... used 8 oz. salmon. So quick and easy.

As others have already stated, even those claiming to not like lox gobble up this spread. Still skeptical? Give it a try at your next party, or bring it to one you're attending. Recipe requests guaranteed.

Seem to always be asked to bring this spread to gatherings. Funny thing is that at least two pople who have fallen in love with it claim to hate salmon.

Try not to add salt until salmon has "rested" in the rest of the mix for a while ... the saltiness of your salmon will determine how much additional salt you should add. This spread is fantastic. I don't normally eat salmon, yet I LOVE this. Trader Joe's mini melba toast really does it justice.
