The delicious flavor develops OVERNIGHT! This is one of the ultimate make ahead recipes. We dip it, we spread it and my quests inhale it. I have not had one person who did not rave about it. Do remember.....OVERNIGHT

I followed the recipe and didn't think it had enough Salmon flavor. So, I doubled the salmon and made a huge differenct. I served it at a party and it was a huge hit. Everyone loved it!

My husband is not a 'spread' kind of guy, but he really liked Ina's salmon spread! I was out of fresh dill, so I used dried, and I did use a little more horseradish. I think this will be a great appetizer for my next get-together!

I make this all the time! If you just like a slight smoked salmon flavor, this is the spread for you! So elegant and so easy. I add a lot of horseradish to balance all the dairy flavor, about 3 tsp.

The flavor of the smoked salmon is overcome by all the dairy in the recipe. I found this to be more of a "dip" than a spread. If you like smoked salmon, double the amount. Or omit the sour cream.

I doubled this recipe for a Christmas cocktail party. I bought little garlic toasts and piped the spread onto the crusts. Topped them with a bit of salmon and a sprig of dill. They were wonderful! I had many requests for the recipe! I had a very small amount left and took it to another party the next day in a bowl topped with salmon, dill and capers! YUM! Served it with crackers! Excellent and easy recipe!

I am not a salmon eater so I relied on my husband to be my taster.
He wasn't especially fond of the spread when I first made it. He felt the cream cheese overwhelmed it.
But, then I remembered Ina saying, when she made it on the show, that it's even better if it sits for a few days.
I waited 2 days after making it and my husband said it was terrific.
I served it with cocktail pumpernickel bread and everyone loved it.
My over night guests even spread it on English muffins the next morning at breakfast.

I have served this for various parties and it is always a hit. Over time, I have learned that doubling or tripling the amount of smoked salmon to cream cheese works best at parties. It gives you that salty appetizer that goes well with cocktails.
