I've been meaning to try this for a while and had some strawberries in my frig. It was really fantastic and the lemon totally enhances the flavor. I'll be making it for company this weekend and will add ice cream with it.

Wonderful, simple to prepare. I did not have ice cream, but had whipping cream. So I served it in a small martini glass with a dollop of fresh whipped cream! Yumm!

Wowie!!! This recipe needs more exposure. Amazing how the lemon zest brings an extra wow factor in this most simple and elegant dessert. Thanks Ina!

These strawberries are amazing. Was a little worried about the black pepper but so delicious. I hope I can find strawberries in the winter!!

I cant make enough of this during strawberry season, I use vanilla almond milk faux ice cream because of a dairy allergy and top with some toasted almonds. I can see why this recipe calls for 8 cups of strawberries, many of them were eaten before desert was "served".

This was amazing. Great with fresh summer strawberries. Even the pepper really enhances the flavor of the dessert. I did not tell my 13 year old son what was in it and he ate it all up. Will make this again and again because it is so easy and delicious!

Don’t be scared by the ingredients! This was a quick, simple and delicious dessert. The natural sweetness of the strawberries paired with the sour of the balsamic vinegar makes this dessert well balanced. The spice and heat of the cracked pepper compliments the creamy cool texture of the ice cream. My guest raised their eyebrows when I told them what dessert was, but every bowl was clean! This is an awesome “grown up” version of “berries and cream”.

Amazing!! I trust Ina's recipes so I tried it. What a hit! Several guests couldn't have dairy so we used a coconut dairy free ice cream. This was a fabulous treat and I will serve it again and again. Easy, quick, makes my mouth water to remember it. The balsamic and pepper brought out flavors galore! This could be served to food connoisseur's as well as those with simple tastes.
