This was the first recipe for scones that I ever tried, and I served them to my bunko guests 2 wks ago. They are the best scones I have ever tasted. They are moist and flaky which is very unusual for a scone. Since then I tried another scone recipe from Tea magazine which turned out dry and heavy. I highly recommend this recipe and have had my bunko friends request it from me. Enjoy!

I actually baked these scones and they were terrific; albeit, I did use Splenda instead of the sugar and fat free heavy cream. My problem is that there is a reviewer "Yuck" who obviously does not cook but is commenting on Ina's appearance (a sign of jealousy and saying that Ina cannot cook. This person put the same review on another recipe review site. He/she must watch the shows or just is a mean-spirited person. He/she should not be allowed on the review sites.

I love the Barefoot Contessa but I believe this recipe had a typo as 2 teaspoons of salt seemed to be way too much. I even had a few people try them and they felt the same way. I totally agree that cold butter and cream makes it so much easier to work with!
I think I will reduce the salt and increase the sugar and see what happens : I too couldn't find dried strawberries after calling 3 local chain grocery stores and 1 health food store so I used orange flavored dried cranberries and orange zest as I wanted to try and duplicate her orange zest/walnut recipe that she featured recently.

I made the strawberry scones which by the way were super easy to make and very tasty. I know this was't the recipe that everryone preferred on the show but if you watched the show all you needed to do was to add some walnuts(I like to toast mine and some grated orange zest...how hard is that. I also like to use a non aluminum baking powder because like a previous reviewer, I can taste the baking powder if I don't (it's bitter...so it is worth it to me to search around a little to find it...'Rumford' is one brand. I have made another recipe for scones that she had up also...they were cranberry and orange and also were the best I have ever had or made. Every other recipe I have tried or have eaten have been so dry you could choke on them!...and Oh yeah..."YUCK" you are a pretty sad person and not a person I would personally care to have as a friend. You are rating a product...not insulting the person making it. If YOU made something that didn't come out right I would just say that I didn't care for your recipe but it would not affect my opinion of YOU....but in this case....you were totally out of line. Sorry this is so.o.o long, but I can't stand people like that!

I've never been any good at making scones, despite the fact that I'm from Northern Ireland. Very disappointing. After watching the show yesterday I decided to give it a try. Ina always makes things look so easy. I couldn't believe it. They came out perfect. I was so impressed with myself :0 It was helpful to see the consistency on the show. That was so helpful.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I thought Ina's scones were delicious. Food Network should screen these reviews for those with derogatory comments about the host. Ina seems to work very hard at bringing people great recipes. She should not be subject to personal attacks within these reviews.

These scones were the best...and to
the person who's name is (YUCK how dare
you insult Ina ! Because you can't cook
a simple thing like scones, and you have
to put her down over it ? Its almost always a fact that people who insult are
so ugly they always have to be insulting
others to make themselves feel better !!
    Well, back off YUCK !!

Finally, a scone that tastes just like the one they sell at the Nordstrom cafeteria: absolutely delicious and decadent.

Thank you Ina for yet another fabulous recipe :

These were delicious and very easy to make. REcipe filled up 2 gallon sized storage bags. Took them to work, they were gone in less than 30 minutes. Have had many requests to make them again.
