This is so delicious! Follow it exactly and you will have a perfect side dish. The shallots are wonderful and give such a nice taste to the beans.

This is a great way to dress up string beans and a simple-simple recipe. I made these with regular green beans and it turned out great. Don't recall ever seeing the true french green beans in the grocery store.

This is so easy and yet so delicious. There is a difference, though, between regular green beans, which is what Ina uses in her recipes on television, and true haricot vert, which are lots thinner than the standard green bean. They are also not "widely available in grocery stores" at least not in the US, contrary to Ina's claim. Please tell her.

Great side dish for entertaining since they can be made ahead of time and just reheated with the shallots before serving.

This recipe could not be simpler, yet its flavor speaks volumes. If you've never cooked with shallots, you should definitely try this, as they lend a marvelous, earthy flavor to this dish. I find them much more flavorful and unique than other onions.

Usually I do not care for green beans, fresh, frozen etc. I used the french thin green beans and this was delicious. I think I like green beans now.

I have been making this a long time from one of her cookbooks and these beans are the best ever. Don't miss this one or you'll be missing out on another great recipe by Ina!!!
