I haven't used the recipe yet, but why is is called a rib roast in 45 minutes when it is really takes 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours to cook it????????

Well I overlooked the warning in the recipe about the oven being clean. I preheated to 500, put the roast in the oven and went out on the front porch to visit with my holiday company. When I returned to the kitchen 45 minutes later, the room was filled with smoke. I rushed to open the windows and turn on a fan before the smoke alarm set off. I admit my oven has been in need of a cleaning cycle but boy, what a time to be reminded! p.s.: The roast was still delicious.
Caveat: This morning, my husband remarked how thirsty he had been overnight, and I noticed the same thing. Next time, I'll be more judicious with the NaCl.

This rib roast is so delicious!! Its a HUGE hit within my family. They are always asking me to make this rib roast. The only thing I changed about this receipe is that i smothered the roast in garlic paste before putting the salt & pepper mix on it. I LOVE garlic and it just makes this rib roast even better!

I have tried many times to make a delicious rib roast of beef and, "Voila"! I FINALLY found THE BEST recipe! The oven temperatures provided by Ina proved to be absolute perfection! My husband and I enjoyed every succulent mouthful and next evening made wonderul sandwiches with sourdough bread loaves out of the leftovers. I then took the bones and made Onion Soup later in the week so the price of the 6 1/2 pound roast for two people was well worth three evenings of delicious meals!
Thank you, Ina...we love ALL your recipes and always get great compliments from our guests.

I have made this roast several times now and it always turns out amazing. It can be pricey but watch for sales at your grocery store but above all - it is well worth it! I have made it for Christmas dinner as well as "Sunday dinner" and my guests always love it!

A New Year's Eve Extravaganza!
I adjusted for a smaller roast, but by far the best method I've ever followed. I actually added a sprinkle of Celery Seed to the top of the roast, but the timing was PERFECT. Of course, anything Ina suggests is wonderful. Thanks, Ina!
